This position is located in the Office of National Programs (ONP). ONP is the principal organizational component of ARS, which develops, for the Administrator, options and recommendations for resource allocations.
This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in any of the job series/position titles listed. In addition to the specialized experience requirements, applicants must submit proof that they meet the educational requirements for at least one of the series described in the announcement. Applicants may only be appointed to job series/position titles for which they meet all experience and educational requirements.
As a National Program Leader for Water Resources, you will be providing technical leadership and guidance in the area of Water Resources.
Major Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Experience providing technical leadership and guidance in the area of Water Resources.
Coordinates scientific research programs in the area of water resources.
Serves as the spokesperson for the Agency on all areas related to water resources research.
Provides oversight of the national scientific research program.
Responsible for fiscal planning and providing input on budget initiatives for funding high priority research areas.
Sets goals and objectives for research projects and participates in the strategic planning process.
Manages multidisciplinary research programs and coordinates team based multidisciplinary studies.
Develops National Research Programs, reviews progress of research, interprets and documents research outcomes and impacts, and develops research initiatives.
Serves as a scientific reviewer and/or provides oversight for various committees involved with Federal, State, and or local research.
Speaks for the Agency through informal conversation and formal gatherings.
Serves on advisory boards and interagency working groups for universities, government agencies and other corporations.
Provides technical leadership to field scientists.
