The Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical insight relating to a full range of renewable energy debt and equity financings.The Project Engineer’s advice will be a key factor in assessing financing opportunities and making prudent investment decisions.Projects may be based on solar, wind and other technologies.

  • Assist originations in sourcing new deals
  • Qualify equipment vendors and contractors for various project types including writing technical memoranda
  • Visit and evaluate project sites during construction and operation
  • Monitor portfolio projects and track metrics such as availability, O&M expenses, and any major technical issues
  • Assist portfolio management regarding construction and performance monitoring
  • Conduct detailed technical assessments regarding feasibility and risk profiles, with specific focus on design, construction, operating budget, contractual and operating risks
  • Review project design specifications, project schedules, and construction methods to assess reasonableness and compliance with industry standards
  • Verify technical and economic assumptions in project models and perform sensitivities
  • Work with consulting engineering firms

This position is posted as a Sr Project Engineer, but is flexible to be filled as a Project Engineer position based on the skill set/experience of the candidate.


Required Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Power, Electrical, etc.); MS in Engineering or MBA; Professional Engineer LicensePrior Work Experience:
  • Strong engineering skills with 5-10 years of proven experience
  • Electric Utility work experience
  • Consulting engineering experience
  • Contractor work experience
  • Experience designing, constructing, or consulting on various energy projects

Required Skills:

  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and self-motivation
  • Exceptional writing skills including verbal and presentation skills
  • Construction project management skills
  • Knowledge of power purchase agreements, EPC contracts and O&M agreements
  • Demonstrated experience advising financial institutions with respect to project investments
  • Proven ability to work effectively and productively on several transactions or tasks simultaneously
  • Proven client management skills
  • Results oriented – ability to meet deadlines
  • 25-50% Travel
  • Preferred location Providence, but would consider San Francisco, Boston, New York or Charlotte based on candidate profile
